A concept foto shooting is not a polished glamour shooting but a creative tool to develop a particular idea. To make it visible, what one has in mind.
This concept shooting was for the company Aura-Soma.
Aura-Soma is a philosophy. The spiritual founder, Vicky Wall, was a former pharmacy assistant who became completely blind. in 1983, she was already 70 years old, she started to mix intuitively herbal and crystal essences. She created this in a state of meditation. She went to bed, and the other day, they discovered that the mixes had beautiful colours. All the colours were different but of striking beauty.
This is how the Aura-Soma system was born.
There are in total 117 bottles of each a different colour combination. The philosophy says that the colour combinations were spiritually transferred to Vicky and that each bottle has a different meaning.
According to the belief of the founder, the colours should transmit particular energy. Once it is applied to the skin, the colour starts to radiate. The theory of Vicky was supported by the fact that usually, all people had particular preferences for just one or two colour combinations out of more than 100.
Therefore, she concluded that the individuum was "in need" of a specific colour combination. She decided to call the herbal essences in her bottles Equilibrium.
The creative concept of this shooting was to transfer the idea of colour wavelengths and energetic transformation to a different medium. Ultralight chiffon silk was printed in the original Aura-Soma colour combinations. The foto shooting had to take place outside under the sun. We used no make-up and styling.
The light fabrics and beautiful colours made the concept visible.
We choose to photograph in late April at a Dutch beach in Bloemendaal. The coolish light added a sense of purity and transcendence to the scene.
